If it'd be best to just go the whole hog and get the Hometroller device as that would be simplest for the long-term to keep it as a separate, dedicated HA machine, I'd go ahead and do that. ![]() ![]() I reckon I'll get bitten by the bug and tend to scale things up over time, so if it makes most sense to go for a powerful controller now, I'm happy to invest. Not sure if I would need this in addition to a NAS or if it could replace the NAS (by setting up RAID config for the HDDs) and also take care of the camera recording. Would Homeseer Hometroller be a good fit as the controller for this setup? I have a spare PC that I will no longer be using - I could install Homeseer on this and add USB dongles to it as needed (e.g. I plan to have a NAS or server for media and possibly recording for the cameras. I like the idea of using z-wave as other than running neutrals to the switches, no special wiring configuration. Also plan to run LED strip lights in the garden and driveway. ![]() Haven't quite had time to research alarm options yet, but hoping to integrate to that also. We'll shortly be building a 170square metre house and plan to put in a lot of home automation stuff: lights (z-wave or zigbee), all sockets (z-wave), controls for the underfloor heating, cameras, locks etc.
